These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of What's Cookin — our web application and the What's Cookin Chrome Extension (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the Service.
What's Cookin helps you save recipes from around the web or your own collection, organize a personal recipe library, plan meals, and generate shopping lists. Some features use artificial intelligence to read and structure recipe content (see Section 6). Certain features are free; others require a paid subscription. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
“Your Content” means the recipes, photos, notes, tags, and other material you save to the Service.
The Service uses artificial intelligence to read recipe pages, photos, and pasted text, and to estimate structured details such as ingredients, quantities, dietary tags (for example “Vegetarian” or “Nut-Free”), and nutritional values. This information is generated automatically on a best-effort basis and may be incomplete or incorrect. Recipe owners can also edit these details at any time.
You agree not to:
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, email us at legal@whats-cookin.ai. So we can act on it, your notice should include:
We review complaints promptly, remove or disable access to material when appropriate, and may notify the user who posted it so they can respond. We may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
The What's Cookin Chrome Extension is part of the Service and is covered by these Terms, in addition to any terms that apply from the Chrome Web Store. The Extension reads the content of a recipe page only when you actively clip it.
The Service itself — including its software, design, and branding — belongs to us and our licensors. These Terms don’t grant you any rights to it beyond using the Service as intended.
The Service integrates third parties such as Stripe (payments) and Google (sign-in), and links to external recipe websites. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.
You may also connect the Service to an AI assistant of your choosing. Any assistant you connect acts on your behalf and under your instruction: what it does with the recipe information it requests, how long it keeps it, and whether it uses it to train its models are governed by that provider's terms, not ours. We do not review or endorse the assistants you connect, and any app may register under any display name, so check the address shown on the connection screen before approving it. You can revoke a connection at any time in Settings. Recipes created through a connected assistant are subject to Section 6 — treat their dietary and nutrition information as an estimate and check the ingredients yourself if it matters medically.
You may stop using the Service at any time, and you may request deletion of your account and its data by contacting us at legal@whats-cookin.ai. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create risk for other users, or abuse the Service, and we may discontinue the Service with reasonable notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends; provisions that by their nature should survive (such as Sections 5, 6, 13, 14, and 15) survive.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose (or, if you use only the free tier, to zero). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person’s rights. This does not apply where prohibited by law and does not limit any mandatory consumer rights you have.
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. For material changes, we will give notice in the app or by email before the changes take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operator of What's Cookin is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence provides otherwise.
